The Design/Build Semester started the third week strong as we began developing floor plans and creating study models. Juan Andres de Risio gave a lecture on natural building, followed by a tour of the NBC’s most recent project. The lecture and tour helped spark ideas for how we could integrate natural building systems into our designs as we worked toward our first studio pin-up on Wednesday.

The feedback from the pin-up allowed each student to refine their strongest ideas and prepare for an internal review with the Yestermorrow staff and past semester student, Gina, on Friday. The review went well and gave us a clearer direction for continuing to develop and refine our designs. We finished the week with a visit to our instructor George Brins’ house, where we picked apples as we prepare to build our own apple cider press next week!
