Timber Frame

$2,500-$10,000

Timber frames combine timeless craftsmanship with lasting strength. Built from heavy, squared-off timbers, each joint is carefully hand-cut and secured with traditional wooden pegs. In our courses, students typically construct frames ranging from 12' x 12' to 12' x 24', depending on the complexity of the joinery. Most projects use 2–3 bents, and when possible, we install the completed frame on site as part of the course (though this cannot be guaranteed).

These projects are best suited for non-residential structures like barns, sheds, and pavilions. Typical costs include $4,000–$5,000 for timbers and $3,000 for design and drawings. Clients are responsible for providing a prepared foundation before the course begins (not included in the estimate).
