2025 Semester Week 8: Burning Down the House!
The classic played out shortly after we raised our first wall, and we all danced.
Teammates,
smashing hammers and blasting bangers.
Accuracy improving, with plenty of mistakes to learn from.
Each joist 16 on center…
“NOISE”
Measure twice, maybe even thrice, and cut once!
Check everyone’s work.
Because if you are ⅛ inch off, 8 inches later… That’s a whole inch off!
and by the time you build a 18 foot wall you could be many inches sad…
and every single mistake will come back to bite!
“NOISE”
We are like dancers, aware of each step and each other as we maneuver tight spaces and specific directions
with different tools and different connections
working apart, together, to create one cohesive house.
“NOISE”
What began as a pile of lumber, and stacks of trace paper
Is manifesting before our eyes,
(protected by clear glasses of course)
2 months of intentional design decisions
with 2 months left of constructional precision.
We ended this week with our north, and east bathroom wall raised.
For this team, I have deep admiration and praise.
Great work.
