2025 Semester Week 14: Short and to the point

Week 14 was short and sweet, just two days!

Both mornings started with intro plumbing lessons with a local former plumber, Martin. We mapped out the necessary plumbing for our building, which includes a kitchen sink, a bathroom sink, a toilet, and a shower. We learned the basics of the Drainage Fixture Unit (DFU), which is a standardized way to measure the hydraulic load a fixture places on a drainage system and helps us determine the proper sizes for pipes, vents, and traps.

Outside of plumbing, we made lots of progress on our siding! We have completed both exterior walls of the bedroom and are starting to find a rhythm with siding efficiently. So ex-siding! That joke has only been made 100+ times out on the jobsite!

While we were plumbing, Caleb and Chris installed the 3 clerestory windows. Everything is coming together amazingly!

As we wrap up our third full month of the semester and head into Thanksgiving break, I am so amazed by all we have accomplished. After some holiday R&R, we’ll be back Monday, December 1st, for a final two weeks of siding, roofing, and hard work before our graduation on December 13th!
