In this course, you’ll trace the origins of the sauna and the cultural foundations of the Finnish tradition, then follow its evolution into today’s technology and design. After an introduction to the topics, you’ll spend time in the design studio, creating your own design and receiving guided feedback.

This course will feature lectures, discussions, independent design exercises, and field trips to explore local saunas. By the end, you’ll walk away with a deeper understanding of sauna culture and a first iteration of your own sauna design. 

This course is an excellent complement to our weeklong Sauna Construction course.
