ABOUT KGBL

KGBL designs and manufactures unapologetically modern, meticulously handcrafted furniture and objects in our Brooklyn workshop. Our work spans fine furniture, custom millwork, and architectural projects, built across wood, metal, glass, stone, and upholstery.

THE ROLE

We're looking for a skilled metal worker/welder to join our Brooklyn shop, working primarily in non-ferrous metals with some related work in steel or stainless steel. Expertise in TIG welding metals is essential to the position. This is hands-on fabrication and finishing work on furniture and objects built to a high standard — precision, clean joinery, and refined surface finishing are central to the job.

The ideal candidate comes from a fine furniture or sculpture background, where craft and finish quality carry the same weight as structural soundness.

RESPONSIBILITIES

– Fabricate and weld furniture components and structures in non-ferrous metals with related welding work in gin aluminum and steel

– Perform precision welding to a high cosmetic standard, not just structural

– Polish and finish metal surfaces — satin, brushed, and polished finishes across multiple metals

– Read and work from shop drawings and templates with tight tolerances

– Work to coordinate and assemble metal components with wood, glass, and stone elements

– Maintain a clean, organized, safe metal shop area

– Collaborate with the shop team on production timelines and sequencing

QUALIFICATIONS

– Experience welding non-ferrous metals with related welding work in gin aluminum and steel

– Background in fine furniture fabrication or sculpture — comfortable with craft-level standards, not just structural welding

– Strong metal finishing and polishing skills

– Ability to work precisely from drawings and templates

– Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable in a small shop environment
