Timber Framing II
Go beyond the basics into more advanced timber framing techniques
In this hands-on course, you’ll build on the fundamental techniques of timber frame construction using traditional mortise and tenon joinery. Through practical experience, you'll develop skills in layout, tool handling, and joinery cutting. Over the course of the week, students will collaborate on a small timber frame structure, culminating in a traditional frame raising on the final day.
Timber Framing II will integrate some more advanced skills, like working with curved timbers and a mix of species. While the emphasis is on hand tools and traditional methods, the course may also include demonstrations of modern power tools used in contemporary timber framing.
