Juan Andrés (he/him) is a craftsman, natural builder & architectural designer. Juan explores architecture's potential to expand our sense of self and to engage with our ecological identities. He is focused on the embodiment of stewardship in our architecture as well as learning how to create spaces which speaks in gratitude for life. Juan believes that architecture is not what we live in but rather how and why we live; which is why he is committed to spreading happiness, good health and the use of bio-regionally appropriate natural methods and materials in our built environment (they’re all the same thing!)
After earning a B.S. in Architecture, Juan traveled the West coast for a decade learning and practicing natural building techniques from many teachers including the Steens at the Canelo Project, SunRay Kelley, and Aprovecho Sustainability Education Center. Juan is now currently rooted in the Appalachian bioregion where he founded Sol Design-Build, an architectural design&build practice focused on vernacular expression.
