ABOUT RISING EARTH BUILDING

We specialize in natural and high-performance residential construction, serving the Hudson Valley, Saratoga, and the Berkshires, with a willingness to travel for exceptional projects. We specialize in frame-to-finish home construction with a strong focus on natural building materials, working frequently with prefabricated straw bale panels and natural plasters to create homes that are ecologically sound, energy-efficient, and built to last. Our work is guided by a commitment to quality and craftsmanship at every stage — from the first framed wall to the final plastered surface. 

POSITION SUMMARY

Rising Earth Building is looking for a motivated individual that is genuinely excited about natural building and carpentry to join our crew as a Natural Building and Carpentry Apprentice. We build homes from the ground up — frame to finish — and we want someone who is eager to be part of every step of that process. Responsibilities span the full scope of residential construction. 

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

• A strong interest in natural building, carpentry, and sustainable construction
• Enthusiasm for learning a trade from the ground up with a hands-on crew
• Must be physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs regularly. 
• Must have their own transportation and legally be able to work in the U.S. 
• Reliability, punctuality, and a consistent work ethic
• Comfort with basic hand and power tools, or a strong eagerness to learn
• Attention to detail — our finish work and natural plasters demand care and precision
• Positive attitude and ability to work well in a small, close-knit team
• Must be willing to travel, we often work an hour away. 

SCHEDULE, WAGE & ADVANCEMENT

Schedule

40 hours a week, 8:00-4:30

Starting Wage

$25.00 - $30.00 per hour

Raises

Guaranteed annual raises plus additional performance-based increases

Benefits 

- 7 paid holidays per year

- 5 paid sick days per year

- Eligible for enrollment in SEP IRA retirement plan at 2 years employment

- Overtime pay 1.5x wage beyond 40 weekly hrs

Advancement

Clear path to grow into skilled tradesperson, lead crew member, or project foreman roles as experience develops.
