Rebuilding Notre Dame Cathedral: Gothic Architecture in Action (Spring Speaker Series)
with Will Wallace-Gusakov
Will Wallace-Gusakov will share his experience working in France to rebuild the nave roof frame of the Notre Dame de Paris cathedral. He'll share images, videos, stories and insights from the rebuilding effort, both from the workshop in Normandy and on-site at the cathedral in Paris. The talk will give the briefest of background information about the cathedral - a masterpiece of both gothic and neo-gothic architecture - but the primary focus will be on the extraordinary rebuilding effort, specifically on the recreation of the nave timber frame.

Twice a year, we curate a series of lectures on a design/build theme. This Spring, we will take on a historic preservation theme and look at case studies, state-wide policy and funding, and retrofitting for modern efficiency standards.
