with Jim Sanford, Sanford/Strauss Architects

One of the pioneers of the Prickly Mountain design/build movement, architect Jim Sanford will give a presentation on the construction of the Dimetrodon, a truly unique example of multifamily housing. Jim will discuss how the design/build process influenced the final building, why the architects felt it important to prioritize multifamily living, and what they would or would not do again. Go under the hood of one of Vermont's most iconic residential buildings from the perspective of its original designers, builders, and inhabitants.

Fall Speaker Series: Innovative Homes

This talk is presented as part of our Fall 2025 Speaker Series. All talks are free and open to the public, and take place Wednesday evenings from 6:30 - 8 pm. No registration required, just drop by. Join us in person or online via livestream on our YouTube channel.

Twice a year, we curate a series of lectures on a design/build theme. This Fall we are tackling part two of our "Innovative Homes" series, this time focusing in on multi-family homes. We'll discuss different ways cities and towns are approaching sustainable housing development and affordability through case studies of unique living spaces.
