Yestermorrow Announces Britton Rogers as New Executive Director

As Yestermorrow Design/Build School enters its 40th year of hands on education, we are pleased to announce Britton Rogers as the 13th Executive Director of our institution.

Britton Rogers has been involved with Yestermorrow for over 10 years in a variety of capacities as a student, staff member and instructor. Britton holds a Bachelor of Architecture from UT Austin and a Masters Degree in Environmental Design from Yale where he continued on as an instructor for two years until moving to Vermont. Britton has worked as Project Architect and Manager at Ike Kligerman Barkley Architects and Peter Marino Architect in NYC, and Centerbrook Architects and Planners, Knight Architecture, and as an Environmental Design Consultant at Atelier Ten in New Haven, Connecticut.  He went on to start his own Architecture and Landscape Design Practice, which ran for over five years with projects in the Northeast, Texas, and Colorado. Britton is a Licensed Architect, a LEED Accredited Professional, and a Certified Master Gardener. Following the lineage of our Yestermorrow founder and Architect John Connell, Britton was attracted to the schools as a place that he could learn construction, investigate materials and methods, and deeply analyze and implement sustainable building practices.

Here on campus, Britton has spearheaded the recent movement on the Master plan and overhauled our curriculum offerings. His multifaceted understanding of our distinctive institution coupled with with his skilled background as both an Architect and Educator makes him uniquely qualified to lead Yestermorrow in the next stage of its evolution.

“Having been through the licensure process, as well as weathering a fragile economy, I felt I wanted to more from the profession of Architecture.  Yestermorrow showed me the way forward, taught me a great many things about designing a building, and gave me opportunities to expand my practice and knowledge base.  My hope is that we can reach more and more people to give them those kinds of opportunities as well, to bridge the gap between design and construction and to make buildings that last.”

-Britton Rogers, Executive Director

Charlotte Potter Kasic, our former Executive Director, will continue her work as the Enrichment Director from her new home in Virginia. Charlotte remains focused on strengthening awareness, community partnerships and creating new relationships. Building on this momentum, 2020 has much in store, from our 40th anniversary celebrations to the build out of our new dorm and the renowned Tiny House Festival.

The Yestermorrow School is a true reflection of the Mad River Valley community.  For centuries this watershed has attracted the most resilient, resourceful and creative individuals that comprise our vibrant community.  Britton is uniquely suited to bring Yestermorrow into this, our most important decade ever!

-John Connell, Founder and Chair of the Board of Directors

As an institution that flourishes with collaboration, we are excited about our leadership evolution and the solid team in place that is preparing for another 40 years of success. Please join us in welcoming Britton Rogers!
