Intro to Permaculture and Ecological Design

This practical and engaging online course will serve as an introduction to permaculture, which is an ethics-based design framework for creating sustainable and regenerative systems inspired by natural ecosystems. This course explores the primary ethics and design principles of permaculture, providing tools to design resilient systems.

Over six weeks, you’ll learn about the foundational concepts of permaculture, including the domains of permaculture, ecological observation and site analysis, and the basics of integrated whole systems design. Topics include creating sustainable home-scale systems, composting, rainwater harvesting, and regenerative food production. Through lectures, design tutorials, and a personalized design project, this course will help you identify your strengths and interests within permaculture while providing actionable steps to implement these concepts in your own life. 

Whether you’re new to permaculture or looking to deepen your understanding, this course offers a comprehensive foundation in whole systems thinking.

Course Duration: 6 weeks (Includes live lecture sessions, Q&A sessions, at-home study, and an integrated project)

Weekly Schedule: 2-hour class session on Monday's 6pm-8pm + 1-hour Q&A Thursday's 7pm - 8pm + 1-1.5 hours of at-home video content and supplemental resources.
