Week 7

Jesse and Owen

Monday we took a major step forward in our project, we all determined the specific needs we have for the course going forward in connection with the needs of the project / client and our interests.  We refined the project by breaking out into smaller groups to handle tasks in a less linear way with groups to focus on material selection, final schematics for windows and doors, daylight / shadows at different times of day and how it interacts with openings, and SketchUp modeling. We also worked on our sawhorses.

For Tuesday and Wednesday we continued to rough out windows/doors and materials onto paper and our sketchup model. Then after lunch we finished our saw horses in the hangar.

On Thursday we brought together our elevations, floor plans, sections, and sketchup model to give to the client for review. We produced the schematics of window/door placement and type, siding types and prices, as well as a model with panel and interior space dimensions.

Friday was spent in the woodshop where we made a variety of bandsaw boxes. We took a template and laid it on top of our wood. We then cut our pieces using a band saw, sanded them with a belt sander and glued the pieces together. Overall, it was a very successful week on the YM campus.
