Speaker Series: UrbanFrame Youth Design/Build
On November 7, Yestermorrow welcomes Daniel Hewett of Rhode Island School of Design to share about a unique youth design/build program he founded. Learn about nearly a decade of teen/community built projects anchored by UrbanFrame, including a box for the public exchange of love letters, a cooler/teaching pavilion for an urban farm, public art that offers habitat for threatened species, and a sugarhouse that doubles as a veterinary care building.
Speaker Series: An Ecological Approach to Historic Preservation
On October 24, Yestermorrow Design/Build School's speaker series welcomes Nancy Oakley, who approaches the preservation of historic places with respect for ecological and cultural context. Over the past ten years, the Willowbank School of Restoration Arts has been a leader of a new approach to historic preservation in Canada that appreciates the evolving, complex relationships between people and place.
Speaker Series: Living Roofs
On October 10, join Yestermorrow Design/Build School and Beth Haggart, certified green roof professional, to learn about the history, design, and construction of living roofs. Green and living roofs filter pollutants out of rainwater and slow runoff; reduce energy costs by providing natural insulation and cooling; and create natural habitats that attract pollinators and birds.
