The other day we received a link to a home for sale in Rensselaerville, New York, with Yestermorrow roots. According to this Trulia listing, The Haiku House is a Japanese-inspired, open floor plan home on 53 acres.
"An off-grid timber frame, cedar-shingled cabin with cedar deck (built around a live tree) sits at the edge of the large pond, accessed by a trail through the woods, across a 70 foot long hand-built wooden bridge, past giant pines, cherry and other varied species of trees, ferns and sapling."
Unique to the home decor is a tree in the living room.
While the tree is a neat addition, the home design uses site-harvested cherry trees to showcase the work of Josh Jackson, a master timber framer and one of Yestermorrow's many talented instructors.
The Haiku House is a wonderful example of skills you will learn at Yestermorrow. From Timber Framing basics to creative building techniques in Custom Residential Carpentry to architect-led studio sessions like Design Your Own Home, we have created a curriculum for homeowners, DIY'ers and professionals alike.
