October 5 was a windy gray day in the Mad River Valley. Volunteers gathered early in the morning and were requested by the Mad River Valley Hurricane Irene volunteer headquarters to assist neighbor Small Step Farm with a growing problem for farms across the state. The flooding covered fields with many feet of silt that contained.
