Fusion 360 for Timber Framing (Online)

Fusion 360 is the perfect tool for timber frame design – its fast, easy, and accurate. In this online class, you’ll learn all the skills necessary to create timber frame models – from basic “butt-joint” frames, to complex frames complete with mortise and tenon joinery. This course requires that you know the basics in Fusion 360 – how to create boxes at desired dimensions and how to move objects in 3D space. After a brief review of these Fusion 360 essentials, the class will move into drawing dimensional timbers, putting together bents and adding braces, and rafters. Techniques for moving and reproducing parts of a frame will also be covered in depth. Once you’ve mastered the basics, we’ll move into making joinery and producing shop drawings.

This online course will run on Monday and Thursday evenings from 7:00-9:00 PM Eastern Time from October 31 to November 10, 2022 for a total of four (4) 2-hour sessions.

Please have Fusion 360 installed and running on your computer before the class starts. All classes will meet on Zoom, therefore a reliable internet connection, camera and microphone are also required. A three-button mouse (mouse with a scroll wheel) is strongly recommended.
