High Performance Building Certificate

This 4 week intensive program will provide practical, hands-on experience in the design/build process centered on sustainable, high performance, super insulated residential homes. At the end of the program, students will feel comfortable with basic hand and power tools, building envelope detailing - both design and build -, insulation types and methods, reading plans, and have an understanding of basic HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems and more.

This course will touch on two broad topic areas - building construction details and HVAC, plumbing and electrical systems.

The building portion of this program will be driven by the enclosure and weatherization of a small structure (such as a cabin) that relates to a larger scale residential project. The systems portion of the course will take place in the classroom using a demonstration wall and lectures.

Yestermorrow's sliding scale tuition model is not available for certificate programs. Information on financial aid can be found here.
