Description
Tiny houses will be the focus of a new fundraiser developed by the Craftsbury Public Library. On Saturday, July 27, tiny home owners around Craftsbury will open their homes to the public for a Tiny House Tour to benefit the library. The tour will feature eight different properties for participants to choose from to visit. The tour will run from 10-4, with two hour time slots during which 2-3 houses will offer open hours for people to tour the homes and talk with the owners about their experiences.
Each tiny house is unique, with some of them in use for full time habitation and others used as guest or retreat space. Some of the houses were built by the owners and other have been purchased and adapted to suit the needs of the owner. There are houses that were built with repurposed materials and other with lumber harvested from local sources. Some of the houses are moveable and others are on fixed foundations. Low cost living is a primary goal for some of the tiny house dwellers, transitional housing during larger builds is the goal for others, and flexible extra space was the motivation for still others on the list.
Tickets for the tour include a map of all the properties as well as a booklet with descriptions of each tiny house, so participants can get an idea of what houses will be of greatest interest to them prior to the tour. This tour should provide plenty to see for the prospective tiny home dweller, for those simply curious about tiny house living, and those intrigued to see what the talented builders of the area have crafted for unique and beautiful small scale spaces.
Tickets are available online or in person at the library, for a suggested donation of $20 per person (children visit free, please help children move respectfully in the small spaces on the tour). For more information, contact the library at 802-586-9683 or [email protected]
