Kitchen & Bath Design

Kitchens and bathrooms are the most complicated rooms to design or redesign. Each student in this course will choose one of these rooms on which to focus and move through the entire design process, from brainstorming ideas to creating a plan for implementing the final design.

We’ll start with the basics of kitchen & bathroom layouts, gather inspiration and ideas online, and then use whatever tool suits you best (SketchUp, Sweet Home 3D, other software, pen and paper) to develop plans for your new kitchen or bath. Each student will present their designs and provide feedback for their classmates every class. We will go over traffic flow and material selection and by the end of the class you will have a new direction for your kitchen or bathroom and the knowledge of how to implement the design.

This is not a lecture series. Students must have a project that they are working on or thinking about, and will present their designs and give feedback every week in this participatory class. Each student is also given a 1/2 hour consultation with each instructor. Classes are recorded and available for those who must miss a class.

NOTE: This online course will run on Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30pm ET for a total of four (4) 2-hour sessions.
