Bio

Andy is a designer, maker, educator, and building-science nerd. Underlying these interests is the belief that architecture, construction practices, and environmental stewardship are fundamentally connected. Andy has spent the past two decades exploring this relationship, working in architecture offices and on construction sites throughout the United States and abroad. He also holds a Master of Architecture from the University of Oregon, a Bachelor of Science in Ecological Design from the University of Vermont, and is a Certified Passive House Consultant.

Andy tapped this experience and passion to found Boreal Design and Construction in 2017, a Vermont-based firm focused on innovative, enduring, ecologically responsible architecture that acknowledges its cultural and physical context.

When he’s not trying to save the world through design you can usually find Andy up on his land in Duxbury, Vermont, backcountry skiing or building unconventional structures, depending on the season.
