This course is an excellent opportunity for high school students ages 14 to 18 to gain an understanding of the design/build process. Communicating ideas from concept through construction, students will explore a design problem, learning teamwork and building skills as they develop and build a group project. Emphasis will be on combining creativity and function. The course will teach the safe operation of both hand and power tools.
This summer, the students in this course will be designing and building a waste sorting station for the Camp Dream dining room. This seemingly simple project offers an excellent opportunity for creative thinking and problem-solving.
Students must be over 18 to stay on campus alone. Parents/guardians are welcome to stay on campus with a student in the class. Camping is available, for both the student and their adults, free of charge.
