SketchUp for Architectural Design

View Syllabus

Learn to use SketchUp for the entire design process, including the organization and preparation of complete building plans.

Students will be provided with a detailed SketchUp model of a fully-designed house and a complete set of printed construction documents.  All aspects of the model and plans will be reviewed.  The class will then be lead through the process of recreating the model from scratch, using techniques and approaches necessary to procedure detailed drawings.  Layout (a program included with SketchUp Pro) will be used to create a complete set of scaled construction documents from the recreated model, including floor plans, elevations, sections and perspectives.

The SketchUp training will include drawing methods for accurate walls and roofs, dealing with intersecting roofs, drawing and moving windows and doors, using materials for siding and roofing and drawing interior/exterior trim.  Workflow techniques will be taught using components and groups, layers, scenes and styles in SketchUp.

Instructor, Ben Weiss, will guide you through creating a design similar to the interactive model below
