Introduction to Wood Turning

In many ways, woodturning is as close to instant gratification as you can get in a woodshop. With essentially a single machine, a handful of chisels, and a little know-how you can produce a finished product in as little as a half an hour or so. This class is designed to jump-start your career as a turner. Over three days, you’ll have the opportunity to make eight projects, each designed to help you master the skills necessary to become competent at the wood lathe. Along the way, we’ll also tackle important side topics including sharpening, finishing, tool selection, and stock preparation. The projects include a variety of spindles and bowls and offer a chance to explore one’s own aesthetics. The class format includes demonstrations, hands-on practice, and individual coaching.
For beginning to intermediate turners.

Please note this course will take place at the Vermont Woodworking School in Fairfax VT.  Single occupancy lodging is available Friday and Saturday nights and you may sign up for lodging when you register. There is no meal plan available but the on campus housing includes access to a kitchen.
