Design Your Kitchen or Bathroom

View Syllabus

Kitchens and bathrooms are the most complicated rooms to design or redesign. Each student in this course will choose one of those rooms on which to focus, and move through the entire process, from brainstorming ideas to creating a plan for implementing the final design. We’ll start with the basics of kitchen & bathroom layouts, and then gather inspiration through internet resources such as Pinterest and Houzz. Then we’ll learn basic drafting techniques, and begin drawing up your own kitchen or bathroom. Flow and function of the spaces will be discussed along with how to make decisions regarding material selection in terms of cost and life cycle assessment. By the end of the class you will have a new direction for your kitchen or bathroom and the knowledge of how to implement the design.

Note: This class will take place at Hinge Architectural Studio in Burlington, VT, and runs for four successive Wednesdays, March 8, 15, 22, and 29, from 6:30-8:30pm.
