Anatomy of a House

A home is the biggest purchase most people will ever make in their life, yet many homeowners have only a rudimentary understanding of how their house functions, and thereby, how to protect or grow that investment via regular maintenance, appropriately-timed systems improvements, and other worthwhile upgrades. This course will take you under the hood of a home, explaining the basics of thermal and moisture management, structural engineering, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and hot water systems, weatherization and energy retrofits, renewable energy options, and much more. You’ll learn how to identify and correct problems before they result in damage, when to invest in upgrades, and how to reduce energy use. Bring information and questions about your own home.

The online session of this course will meet on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7-9pm between May 7 and 23 for a total of 6 sessions.
