The Design Director is responsible for leading the design effort and maintaining design standards and image. Specific responsibilities will include:

Manages the Design Department, including a staff of Designers and their production
Oversees design work and presentations, maintaining company brand image
Introduces design process to prospective clients
Maintains client communication to ensure homeowner satisfaction
Provides design direction and support
Monitors projects, including design quality, schedules and budgets
Attracts, hires, manages and mentors design staff
Contributes to company business development goals
Maintains awareness of industry trends, educates staff and modifies practices
REQUIRED EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE

Graduate of an accredited design school (architecture, interior architecture, interior design)
10+ years progressive experience working on building design projects (custom residential preferred)
Architect, registered with the Commonwealth of Massachussetts, preferred
Design-build delivery method and construction experience a plus
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Comprehensive knowledge of building design industry (architecture, interior architecture and/or interior design)
Expert design detailing skills
Comprehensive knowledge of construction documents, workflow and procedures
Working knowledge of building systems, codes and zoning procedures
Excellent verbal, written and graphic communication skills
Ability to manage and lead design staff
Working knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraints
Open to learning and participating with company management system, office policy and departmental development
Strong AutoCAD skills
Knowledge of MS Office Suite, SharePoint, Office 365, Gantt Charts preferred
