Steve Clay-Young

Bio

Steve started in 1969 with the renovation of buildings as a designer, carpenter, electrician, and plumber. Then he managed the shop at the Boston Architectural Center for 12 years teaching model building, cabinetmaking, metalworking, and more.

As a self-employed designer/fabricator, he produced portable rock-concert sound, lighting, and power-distribution equipment; multimedia and recording studio equipment; and institutional, commercial, and home furnishings, most of which incorporated wood, metal and plastics. He reconditioned machine tools, which led to expanded metalworking capabilities, when he moved to Vermont.  He designed an advanced whole-house wood heating system, served as project manager in his wife’s decorative painting business, and most recently reestablished his workshop in Windsor VT.
