Pilar's attraction to metal as a medium has led her to creating two-dimensional art for the wall, utilitarian metal objects/art, sculpture and art jewelry. She studied Metal Arts at The University of The Arts in Philadelphia, PA., where she also sold hand-crafted jewelry at local shops and trade shows. Pilar went on to get her Masters in Teaching at The University of The Arts, exposing her to a broad range of teaching experiences in New York, Philadelphia and Vermont. She has taught in continuing education, museum programs, middle schools/high schools, group workshops and private tutorials. Pilar has a vast understanding within the spectrum of metal arts disciplines, having experimented and created, using traditional metalsmithing practices, as well as, contemporary approaches to working with metal.
