Would you like to learn how to build a timeless, maintenance-free stone house for a very low cost, with your own hands? Workshop attendees will learn that with the use of simple movable forms, stone masonry can be accomplished by the non-skilled. This workshop is designed to provide the attendee with the basic understanding required to assemble low-cost insulated fieldstone masonry exterior walls. While presented in the context of the instructor's slipform method, the skills and techniques learned can be applied to other slipform techniques. All aspects of a slipform stone exterior wall will be addressed, including foundations, door and window detailing and roof connection options. The workshop will include information on passive solar design and integrating the stone walls into your floor plans. All Levels.
