Rigging, Rolling & Raising
Before the days of motors, hydraulic lifts, and heavy machinery, builders improvised simple mechanical advantage systems to make hard work easy. Beginning with an introduction to ropes and knots, we will learn a variety of pulley systems, principles of leverage and friction-reduction, anchoring systems, and personal safety. We will then put this knowledge to work moving and lifting immovable objects using a site-built gin pole, shears and tripod, and a simple derrick and jiniwink. In addition to 25 years of designing & building, Robert Riversong is a rock-climber, caver, and rope-rescue instructor, with expertise in high-angle, confined space, fast-water, mountain, and industrial rigging and rescue. All Levels.
