This session is open to and encourages those in design/build professions to experience hands-on the malleable side of a common building material. The soft side of structural steel will be explored through blacksmithing means of hammering hot metal. We will exercise forging and bending techniques with emphasis on mechanical joinery. Additional topics in metallurgy/alloys, surface treatment, and material compatibility will be discussed. Expect an energetic session and countless inspirational discoveries to bring back to the drawing board. Intermediate .
