Architectural Woodcarving
This course focuses on carving wood panels that can be used in cabinetry, doors, walls, and furniture. Using elements of the local landscape around Yestermorrow, students will design and prepare patterns for panels derived from the natural environment. Each panel will stand on its own yet collectively they will have a common theme. Students will learn a range of carving techniques, using both air-powered tools to expedite roughing out the design to mallets and gauges for details and finishing. Appropriate adhesives and finishes will also be discussed. Prior experience with woodworking is encouraged. Intermediate to Professional.
